PLANT AWARD COMMITTEE FORMEDThe Long Island Horticultural Society is pleased to announce the formation of the Gold Medal Plant Award Committee.PURPOSE:* To identify underutilized plant material of exceptional merit that is particularly suited for growing on Long Island.* To educate the public about high quality plants that will be an asset to their landscapes. * To spur consumer demand for underutilized plant material, much of it grown on Long Island. A locally propagated and grown plant is better for local gardens. * To facilitate information flow between all segments of the horticultural industry on Long Island, from growers to gardeners, and to promote the growing and distribution of this exceptional plant material.
